Important Update: Changes to Centrepay Payments

What’s happening?

Services Australia has made changes to the Centrepay system. This means that for certain payments, including household goods lease and rental, Centrepay will no longer be available after October 2026. This is a decision made by Services Australia, not by us. We want to make sure you understand what this means and how to keep your payments running smoothly.

What does this mean for you?

    • From 3 November 2025, you cannot make changes to your Centrepay payment. It can only be cancelled. If you do cancel, it cannot be restarted.
    • You can continue using Centrepay without any changes until October 2026.
    • By October 2026, all payments must be moved to Ezidebit direct debit or Payto agreement.

What you can do now

    • You can switch to Ezidebit now to make sure your payments continue without interruption.
    • Payto will be available at the end of 2025
    • To switch, simply reply to the email you received, or contact us at hello@orangerentals.com.au or on 08 6388 552 and we will set it up for you
    • If you prefer to stay on Centrepay for now, that’s fine — we will contact you around July 2026 to start the process of moving your payments to Payto or Ezidebit.

Why do I have to switch?

    • Centrepay changed its rules for Basic Household Goods providers, it can’t be used anymore after 3 October 2025 if any changes are made, and will stop all together in November 2026
    • Ezidebit is a secure, easy-to-use direct debit system that will let your payments continue automatically from your nominated bank account on a day of your choosing.
    • PayTo is a secure digital payment method in Australia that replaces traditional direct debits, allowing you to set up payment agreements with businesses directly from your bank account through your bank’s mobile or online banking app. It gives you more control by letting you view, authorize, pause, and cancel payments as they happen

  1. Q: Can I keep paying with Centrepay for now? A: Yes, but only if your payment doesn’t change. Any cancellation, reduction, or stop after 3 November 2025 will mean you must switch to Ezidebit or Payto.
  2. Q: I don’t want to pay with a bank can I pay another way? A: No, Ezidebit & Payto is the only option to continue payments, once Centrepay stops.
  3. Q: Can I stop and restart my Centrepay Deduction? A: Any changes after 3 November 2025 require switching to Payto or Ezidebit, your payment will not be able to be turned on at your end or at ours.
  4. Q: How do I set up Payto or Ezidebit? A: You can set it up by replying to our email hello@orangerentals.com.au and we will set it up with you
  5. Q: Will switching to Payto or Ezidebit cost me money? A: No, there are no extra fees for using Payto or Ezidebit.
  6. Q: Do I have to switch to Ezidebit or Payto by October 2026? A: Yes. By October 2026, all payments must be on Payto or Ezidebit. Centrepay will no longer be available for our type of payment.
  7. Q: Can I still pay fortnightly on Ezidebit & Payto? A: Yes you can choose to pay either weekly or fortnightly on Ezidebit & Payto.
  8. Q: Can I pay manually instead of using Ezidebit or by BPAY? A: No we do not have BPAY. Ongoing payments must be automatic via Ezidebit or Payto. Manual payments  or cash aren’t accepted as an on going payment method, you are able to pay by card for one off’s and catch up payments.
  9. Q: I changed my Centrepay by accident, what do I do? A: That’s okay. Once a change happens after 3 Nov 2025, you just need to switch to Payto or Ezidebit to continue paying. We’ll guide you.
  10. Q: But I like paying the way I always have — why do I have to change? A:We understand you’re used to Centrepay. Unfortunately, the rules have changed, and Payto & Ezidebit are now the only way to keep paying after October 2026.
  11. Q: I’m on a pension / not good with computers can I manage Ezidebit or Payto? A: Yes! We help every customer personally. You don’t need to be good with computers we can do it together over the phone
  12. Q: What if I don’t switch at all? A: Your payments will stop when Centrepay ends in November 2026. To avoid missed payments, you’ll need Payto or  Ezidebit. We will contact you in July 2026 if we haven’t heard from you to start making the switch.
  13. Q: This all seems unfair why me? A: We understand it feels unfair. Unfortunately Services Australia have decided to implement these changes. We’re here to help make switching to Payto or Ezidebit simple and stress-free.
